How does Smart Drawing Upload work?

Uploading a multi-page PDF? Ed Controls now automatically recognises which pages are drawings and suggests a name and description straight away.

How it works

  1. Start uploading your PDF file as usual.
  2. 2. Ed Controls guides you through a four-step wizard: Upload, Analyse, Review, Done.
  3. 3. Each page is automatically classified as a drawing or non-drawing (such as a cover sheet or table of contents). Non-drawing pages are deselected by default.
  4. 4. For each page classified as a drawing, you’ll get a suggested name and description. Edit these if needed.
  5. 5. Is the file a standalone document rather than a drawing? Choose whether to add it to the library (without the option to place tickets on it) or convert it to a drawing anyway.
  6. 6. Confirm your choices to complete the upload.

Good to know

If Ed Controls can’t detect a name (for example, from an unreadable scan), the page is automatically given a numbered fallback name. Smart Drawing Upload availability depends on your licence, contact support for the exact terms.
